The London Music School offers six-month or one-year full time courses which award the LMS Diploma in Music Performance and Production. Enrolment is currently open for our LMS Diploma Courses starting in April and October 2022. LMS courses are distinctive for their breadth and scope, and are designed to increase your creative, technical and theoretical knowledge while supporting you in the development of an original body of work. LMS Diplomas explore the diverse ways in which music has evolved over the course of the last half-century, while providing a broad and practical education in instrumental technique, theory, composition and music production. They are designed to equip students with the necessary skills and experience to develop a successful career in the music industry or to pursue further study. Our courses are both intense and comprehensive, and differ from qualifications offered by other schools on a number of fundamental issues. Most importantly, we offer a higher number of one-to-one teaching hours, and include Harmony and Theory to a greater extent than any other school does. We cover a variety of essential fields, from playing technique, composition and sight-reading, to live performance and studio recording. Students learn how to apply a range of technical and creative skills within the performance context and across new technologies. The course considers an extremely wide range of music education including: vocal technique and performance, sight-reading and ear-training, contemporary genres and styles, lyric and songwriting, improvisation, arranging, backing vocals, choir and ensemble, singing with a band and session work, sound engineering and audio technology, and covers all 8 Harmony and Theory grades. We aim to develop your theoretical knowledge and practical experience in a creative and supportive environment.

Unlike other schools our premises, including our professional recording studios, are open to students after hours, from 8 am to 11pm, at no extra cost. The opportunity to practice, rehearse with a band, and even to record provides our students with great experience. Many are able to develop a body of work and finish the course with professional quality recordings made in commercial studios.

The courses differ from our normal courses as they are subject specific, i.e. vocalists will be here for two days a week (hours depend on number of students) just studying vocals and guitarists just guitar etc. You will be working with all the other students and playing together as a band. You will have full access to the school outside school hours and on the weekends. You can also bolt on some other subjects on other days, time permitting. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to participate in the school’s monthly gigs held at external London venues.
